Pre-K is a kindergarten readiness program for the older pre-schooler, designed to offer them an extra year of growing time. This class emphasizes emergent literacy (including sight words), writing, alphabet recognition, and phonemic awareness through activities that involve the whole child. Lesson plans are taught with a hands-on approach. They also include basic math concepts, number recognition and cause and effect. Children have many opportunities to experiment, predict, and problem solve. This open-ended approach stimulates creativity in many ways beyond the traditional teacher directed activities at this age level.
